Graduate Advisor-Advisee Relationship 研究生指導教戰守則
Dr. K.C. Ting (Professor and Head of the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
Graduate study is an important educational experience for graduate students and their advisors. The relationship between an advisor and his/her advisee could have a life-long impact, professionally and personally for both of them. Like many relationships, the graduate advisor-advisee relationships vary widely and are often-times challenging to achieve perfection. This open forum will provide an opportunity for early career faculty members, and possibly for current graduate students, to exchange their thoughts and experiences. The purpose of the forum is to help create and sustain productive and pleasant advisor-advisee relationships. In this forum, a short presentation on the aspects of administrative matters and formality, advisor’s goals, advisee’s goals, commonly acceptable advisor-advisee relationship, and things worthy of attention will be followed by open and interactive discussions among all attendees.
