ELEC 101: Learning by Deconstruction
Prof. Ashutosh Sabharwal (Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rice University)
What should be the first course taught to an engineering freshman? In this talk, we discuss one possible answer to this question based on our recent efforts in rethinking the first course. Having designed and taught "ELEC 101: Elements of Electrical Engineering," a new introductory course for two years at Rice, we have learnt some valuable lessons in the process. While ELEC 101 continues to be a work in process, it has also paved the way for us to rethink teaching the more advanced engineering courses.
